Tips for Making Chicken Noodle Soup in Ninja Foodi
Here are a few questions you might have for this recipe and my suggestions.
Can I substitute some of the ingredients?
The great thing about classic chicken noodle soup is that you can customize the recipe to fit your preferences, use what you have on hand, or to save time with “premade” ingredients. Here are just a few suggestions:
Egg noodles are the classic choice for chicken noodle soup, but several other pastas work just as well in the recipe. Here are a few:
- Bow ties
- Orzo for a chicken and “rice” like soup
Note: you can also use gluten-free noodles in this recipe. I did, and it turned out perfect!
The recipe uses raw chicken that is cubed, but to save time try these:
- Canned chicken
- Rotisserie chicken from the deli
- Or use up leftover chicken
This recipe uses fresh vegetables, but you can use frozen veggies to save time.
Something to keep in mind is that the vegetables need to be about ¼” thick so that they don’t get overcooked during the cooking time. Some smaller vegetables will hold up though, like peas.
This recipe uses herbs that are typically found in poultry seasoning, but if you prefer other herbs and seasonings, feel free to substitute. Give parsley and basil a try!
The recipe uses regular chicken stock, but here are a few substitutions that work well also, but be aware, they will change the flavor.
- Lower sodium broth
- Vegetable broth
- Bouillon base
The bouillon base suggested above is my favorite to use in this Ninja Foodi chicken soup recipe, but it can be salty, so you will need to adjust the amount of salt you add accordingly. It also can have a bolder or heavier broth flavor, so if you prefer a light broth, you can add more water or use a little less bouillon base.
Can you make Ninja Foodi Chicken Noodle Soup vegetarian?
Of course! Just leave out the chicken, but you could substitute a meatless “chicken” product in its place. Also, swap vegetable broth for the chicken broth. You may also want to choose a pasta that is made from just flour and water.
Can you freeze it?
You can freeze Ninja Foodi chicken noodle soup, but be aware that the noodles, and even the vegetables, may become mushy when reheated.
Ninja Foodi Chicken Noodle Soup Goes Good With…
Okay, my first inclination is to say serve it with a gooey grilled cheese sandwich, because that’s what my mom served with canned chicken noodle soup when I was a kid. But that’s not really healthy, is it?
A healthier suggestion would be that you could add a side salad to the soup, but I really think it’s hardy and filling enough to stand on its own.
