I used the Ninja Speedi to make this recipe, but I’ve also made it in a Ninja Foodi using the BAKE/ROAST function. Check your air fryer/multi cooker to see if it has a similar function.

Ingredients for Salmon Boursin Pasta

Below is the list of ingredients I used for this recipe, but check out the substitutions for more options.

Ingredients for Boursin salmon pasta, including salmon steaks, Boursin cheese, penne, chicken broth, heavy cream, butter and herbs

Ingredients List

  • Water
  • Heavy Cream
  • Lemon juice
  • Fresh parsley
  • Marjoram
  • Garlic powder
  • Penne
  • Boursin cheese round
  • Butter
  • Salmon
  • Baby spinach

Substitutions

Heavy cream I like heavy cream because it makes the dish oh so creamy. But you could also use half-n-half, or even milk.

Penne I find that penne is the perfect pasta for the Ninja Speedi. It cooks up perfectly every time for me. But other pastas of similar shape and size would work also.

Boursin cheese I use the garlic and herb flavor, but Boursin makes other flavors, too. I haven’t tried them, so I can’t say how they would taste in this recipe, but give them a try. You may need to adjust or substitute the seasonings.

Salmon Salmon is my fish of choice, so that’s why I used it here. It complements the Boursin cheese nicely. Other fish would work too, and I think shrimp would be delicious in this recipe.

Step 4 Serve the pasta alongside the salmon steaks, or flake the salmon and mix into the pasta before serving.

FAQs About Making Salmon Boursin Pasta in the Ninja Speedi

Many people use the pressure function of the Foodi to cook pasta, but I prefer to use the SEAR/SAUTE function because it allows me to open the lid to stir the pasta and ensure that it doesn’t stick to the cooking pot. It’s like boiling it on the stove in a pan.

Add everything in Step 1 above, except the Boursin cheese, to the cooking pot and stir. Select SEAR/SAUTE and temperature setting 4. When the pasta is about half cooked, shut off the SEAR/SAUTE function. Add the Boursin cheese to the middle of the pasta and throw in the spinach. Place a rack in the elevated position in the pot and put the salmon on the rack. Top with butter and herbs.

Select the BAKE/ROAST function. Set the temperature to 390° and cook for about 10 minutes, depending on the size of the salmon steaks. When done, remove the salmon and stir the melted Boursin cheese into the pasta.

When I reheat leftovers of this recipe, I like to flake the salmon into the pasta beforehand. This helps more evenly warm the salmon without overcooking it.

Place leftovers in a pan on the stove. Add a few tablespoons of cream for each serving that you are reheating. Gently mix, trying not to break the pasta. Heat on low to medium heat, stirring frequently until heated through.
