Ingredients & Substitutions for Making Ninja CREAMi Lemon Sorbet

Have these handy, along with all the ingredients listed in the recipe below, so you can whip up a batch of lemon sorbet in the Ninja CREAMi in no time.

Monk fruit sweetener Monk fruit is my preferred sweetener on a low carb diet, and it’s what makes this a no-sugar lemon sorbet recipe. But feel free to use whatever low carb sweetener you like. You can also substitute sugar, but I would recommend leaving out the raw agave nectar if you do.

Raw agave nectar Raw agave nectar gives the sweetness in this recipe more depth and warmth, but it’s an optional ingredient. If you are following a strict keto diet, then I would recommend leaving it out just to save on your daily carb count.

Lemon juice Fresh-squeezed organic lemons will give you the best flavor in this recipe. But feel free to use bottled lemon juice. I prefer bottled juice, because I just never know how many lemons to buy to yield the amount of liquid I need.

Note: The recipe below uses low carb sweeteners, so therefore the LITE ICE CREAM setting on the Ninja CREAMi is used. If you substitute sugar for the low carb sweetener, then use the SORBET setting instead.

Instructions

  1. Mix the warm water, monk fruit sweetener, and raw agave nectar, if using, in a small bowl. Stir until the sweetener is dissolved. Stir in the lemon juice.
  2. Pour the mixture into a CREAMi pint, making sure it doesn't go over the MAX FILL line, then put the lid on it.
  3. Place the pint in the freezer, making sure it's level. Freeze for 24 hours.
  4. Take the pint from the freezer, remove the lid, and place it in the outer bowl of the Ninja CREAMi. Install the paddle in the lid and attach lid to the outer bowl.
  5. Plug in the Ninja CREAMi unit and install the bowl on the base.
  6. Press the power button and select LITE ICE CREAM.
  7. When the unit shuts off, remove the bowl from the base and remove the lid.
  8. If the sorbet is crumbly, then reattach the lid and install the bowl on the base again. Select RE-SPIN. You can re-spin the mixture twice if needed.
  9. Once the sorbet is at the right consistency, serve immediately.
