Ingredients and Substitutions for Making a Strawberry Oreo Milkshake
Have these handy, along with the kitchen gear listed above, so you can blend up a keto strawberry Oreo milkshake in the Ninja CREAMi in less than 5 minutes!
Strawberry Ice Cream I used this keto Ninja CREAMi strawberry ice cream recipe, but you can use another strawberry ice cream recipe or your favorite brand of ice cream.
Mini Oreo Cookies Oreos are just darn delicious and are my favorite, but feel free to use another chocolate sandwich cookie in this recipe. There are several store brands, and even gluten free and vegan varieties, so use your favorite.
Milk This recipe uses milk, but you can substitute several other options, such as oat, soy, coconut, or almond milk. Try your favorite!
Tips for Making a Strawberry Oreo Milkshake in the Ninja CREAMi
Can I make it vegan? Yes, you can! You can substitute a plant-based milk for the cow milk in the recipe, and also use a vegan strawberry ice cream. Oreos are reported to be vegan, but if you prefer another vegan chocolate sandwich cookie, feel free to substitute.
Can I make it dairy-free? Absolutely! The Ninja CREAMi strawberry ice cream recipe used here is dairy-free, but if you use another recipe or a store-bought product, you’ll need to ensure there are no dairy products in it. Also, you can substitute a plant-based milk in place of the cow milk. A few suggestions are coconut milk, oat or soy milk, or almond or cashew milk.
Can I make it low carb? This recipe is already low carb, but you could reduce the carbohydrate amount further by substituting coconut milk or cream or heavy cream in place of the cow milk. But of course, most of the carbs are coming from the Oreos, so you could substitute these keto chocolate sandwich cookies for the Oreos.
Toppings & Mix-Ins for Your Strawberry Oreo Milkshake
I just used some extra mini Oreos and fresh strawberries when I made my strawberry Oreo milkshake, because frankly, I wanted to drink it immediately. But you could top yours with all kinds of goodies. Here are some suggestions:
- Whipped cream
- More mini Oreos
- Fresh strawberry slices
- Chocolate syrup
Strawberry Oreo Milkshake Recipe
- 1 1/2 cups strawberry ice cream
- 1/4 cup mini Oreo cookies
- 1/4 milk
1. Add the strawberry ice cream to a Ninja CREAMi pint and scoop a hole in the middle that goes to the bottom. Put the mini Oreos in the hole that you created and pour in the milk.
2. Place the pint in the outer bowl. Install the paddle in the lid and attach lid to the outer bowl.
3. Install the bowl on the base.
4. Press the power button and select MILKSHAKE.
5. When the unit shuts off, remove the bowl from the base and remove the lid.
6. Pour the milkshake into a cold glass, add toppings, and serve immediately.
